Terms of Service for JonaTec IT Services
Rules applicable to JonaTec IT services, authorizations and device repairs.
Version: October 1, 2026
Scope of services
JonaTec provides IT services to residents, freelancers and businesses. Services may be offered in Quebec and, depending on availability and the mandate, in New Brunswick. Sections that expressly describe a Quebec rule apply where that rule governs the contract. Mandatory protections in the client’s province continue to apply where they cannot be waived. The applicable service order, quote or business agreement defines the mandate.
Requests, diagnostics and contract formation
A website, email or phone request does not by itself obligate JonaTec to perform work. We may gather necessary information, diagnose the issue, provide an estimate and confirm the scope before starting. For a consumer distance contract, JonaTec provides the required business identity and contact information, service description, total price and fees, payment and performance terms and applicable cancellation information before formation. For a distance contract governed by Quebec consumer law, the consumer must be able to accept, correct or reject the proposal before formation, and a copy that can be saved and printed is sent within 15 days.
Mandate authorization and service orders
The client authorizes only the work described in the applicable written authorization. Depending on the mandate, this may be a service order, an accepted quote, a quote linked to a master services agreement, or another written confirmation. When a quote and master agreement expressly state that acceptance authorizes the described setup or work, no separate service order is required for that same scope. In that workflow, the signing page groups the general confirmations into one clear acceptance. Complementary details remain available before signature, while consents that need to remain distinct, including certain information-access or third-party consents, are shown separately when relevant. Material extra work or charges outside the agreed scope require client authorization. The client confirms they own the device or are authorized to request the work and provide relevant access. Electronic service orders are signed first by the technician for JonaTec, then by the client or authorized representative; a complete, printable copy is sent upon signature.
Consumer computer/device repairs
For a consumer repair covered by Quebec consumer law, where the expected repair exceeds $50, JonaTec provides the written estimate required by law before repair unless a statutory exception applies. The estimate identifies the parties and addresses, device, nature and total repair price, date and validity period. JonaTec does not use a preprinted estimate-waiver clause. Additional unestimated repair requires authorization.
Replaced parts, detailed invoice and statutory warranty
A consumer may request replaced parts when authorizing work, subject to statutory exceptions. After a covered repair, JonaTec provides the detailed invoice required by law. Covered computer/device repairs carry the statutory three-month parts-and-labour repair warranty. The $50 threshold applies to the prior written-estimate requirement, not to that repair warranty. No term waives mandatory consumer rights.
Pricing, travel and third-party costs
Work may be billed hourly or at a fixed price. For a non-repair hourly service, the duration and total shown on the service order are informational estimates; actual time is billed at the agreed hourly rate. A fixed price and the accepted total price of a repair remain caps for the described mandate. Travel is charged separately using the disclosed round-trip kilometres multiplied by the disclosed per-kilometre rate, subject to the disclosed minimum charge per visit. Licences, subscriptions, parts and equipment are excluded unless stated otherwise. Any charge for preparing a statutory repair estimate is disclosed exactly beforehand.
Monthly IT support plans
JonaTec monthly support plans are IT service subscriptions, not insurance contracts, and do not promise an indemnity or guaranteed outcome when an incident occurs. The client record states the covered household or workstations, monthly non-cumulative support minutes, preventive visits, first-response target and extra-time rate. An annual preventive visit uses one visit even if it ends before its stated maximum; unused time is not carried forward, converted or refunded. A response target applies during business hours and is not a guaranteed resolution time. Taxes, travel, licences, cloud storage, hardware and on-site work are included only where stated. Managed protection and backups require compatible devices and actually activated licences. Depending on the selected payment method, a plan is either charged automatically by card through a secure payment provider or invoiced monthly. Monthly invoices may allow online card payment and/or Interac e-Transfer as shown in the client file; an Interac payment never authorizes an automatic debit. JonaTec does not retain full card numbers. A public price change does not automatically alter an existing agreed plan. An individual can schedule cancellation from the client portal; for a monthly period paid in advance, the system normally keeps the plan active through the current paid period and prevents the next renewal. This does not limit any mandatory cancellation, rescission or refund right provided by law. Business arrangements follow their written terms.
Personal information and account access
Access to devices, files, accounts and personal information is limited to what is reasonably necessary for the requested service. Where required, access consent is requested separately. The signer must have the authority required to authorize the mandate and related access. If consent concerns the personal information of a minor under 14, it must be given by the holder of parental authority or the tutor as required by law. Personal passwords are not kept in the service file and, where possible, the client enters them personally.
JonaTec Agent — managed supervision and actions
When JonaTec Agent is included in the plan and activated on a compatible device, managed activation requires a separate authorization presented in the Agent. Until that authorization is active, the Agent does not transmit managed device telemetry and JonaTec cannot queue remote maintenance actions on that workstation. Managed remote actions are limited to the predefined functions built into the Agent. Work requiring broader access to device content, data deletion, Windows reinstallation, substantial account changes or another operation outside that scope requires the appropriate mandate authorization. The client can withdraw managed-supervision authorization from the Agent or client portal; this pauses future managed functions until local re-authorization. For business fleets, the person activating the Agent confirms authority to deploy it and the business remains responsible for notices it must provide to employees or other users.
Backups and data risk
IT work can carry inherent data-loss or corruption risk. JonaTec takes reasonable precautions and recommends a current backup before data-changing work. A requested backup/transfer must identify what is to be copied and its destination. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Third-party services
Some work requires a third-party account or provider. The client remains subject to that provider’s terms. JonaTec limits disclosure to what is necessary, consented to or otherwise permitted by law.
Quebec in-home visits and itinerant merchant rules
The standard Quebec consumer in-home service order is used only when the client expressly requested the visit for the specific service described and that request did not follow direct contact initiated by JonaTec in order to obtain an invitation to the home. If JonaTec initiated such contact, or the facts do not clearly support the applicable exception, special itinerant-merchant rules may apply and take precedence over the standard workflow.
Electronic documents and signatures
When a consumer contract that must be in writing is prepared on a tablet or other technological medium, JonaTec obtains the consumer’s express authorization for that medium. The entire contract is presented before signature and a signed copy that can be saved and printed is provided using the medium authorized by the client. The client may sign on site or, when the applicable workflow allows it, remotely through a personal single-use link sent to the client’s email address; before remote signature, the client can review the mandate, price and applicable terms, request a correction or decline. General confirmations may be grouped into one concise acceptance, while any consent that must remain distinct is presented separately when relevant. The document is treated as signed only after the required signature and confirmations are completed. Integrity, timestamp and a document hash may be retained as evidence.
Language of These Service Terms
French is the default contract language in Quebec. Where another language is offered, the French version is first provided and the client may expressly choose the other language where legally permitted.
Client obligations
The client must provide accurate information and lawful access, disclose important constraints, and identify highly sensitive or specially regulated data before the intervention when relevant.
Service quality and liability
JonaTec performs services with prudence and diligence according to the mandate and reasonable trade practices. Technology may involve failures or external risks. Any limitation is ineffective to the extent prohibited by law, including mandatory consumer rights and liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Service Termination and Cancellation
The client may terminate a service contract under applicable law. Work already performed, goods supplied and legitimate expenses may remain payable as provided by law and the agreement. JonaTec may pause unlawful, unsafe, out-of-scope or technically unreasonable work.
Applicable law and contact
JonaTec is established in Quebec. These terms are interpreted under the laws applicable to the mandate without depriving a consumer of mandatory protections granted by the law of their province. Mandatory rules applicable to a service delivered in New Brunswick therefore remain reserved. Questions: info@jonatec.ca.
